Abstracts and guidelines
Main topics of the symposium:
Even though the final programme of the conference will be built with the contributions the participant researchers, academics and wildlife managers will send in the next months, the main topics the symposium will deal with are:
Biology, physiology, ecology, and behaviour: sensorial ecology and echolocation, bioacoustics, functional morphology, feeding behaviour, community ecology, habitat and spatial ecology, roosting ecology, eco-physiology, bat migration, etc. | |
Palaeontology, diversity, and evolution: evolutionary processes, species distribution modelling, taxonomy and systematics, population genomics, biogeography, phylogeography and phylogenetics, etc. | |
Conservation biology: population trends and statuses, community dynamics, impact of urbanization and mitigation measures, bats and climate change, environmental contaminants, tourism and leisure activities impact assessment etc. | |
Bats and energy transition: wind energy, solar panel stations, etc. | |
Bat-human interaction, education, and citizen science: environmental education, human-bat interactions, anthropology, citizen science, conservation campaigns, ethnobiology of bats, etc. | |

Abstract submission:
All participants are invited to register through the website in order to submit an abstract for oral or poster presentation. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed for their acceptance by the Scientific Committee. Each participant can submit a total of 1 oral + 1 poster abstract.
Please, note that your registration is required to submit your abstract, but payment is not mandatory at this stage. Accepted summaries will, however, only be published in the book of abstracts of the symposium after full payment of the registration fee.
Abstracts should be submitted electronically following the steps below:
- Start registration process: Register here.
- Prepare the abstract using the provided template.
- After receiving the registration email, login to your private area and click on the button “Send communications” to upload your abstract.
- Please wait for the message delivery receipt.

Oral communications and posters Instructions
Oral presentations: they must be 10 minutes long (without questions).
Questions will be presented at the end of the session for all speakers. Screen resolution 16:9
Posters: The standard size for scientific posters is 90 x 120 cm. Posters cannot be wider than 90cm, and must be printed and brought by the participants.
